PROJECT: A merge of two completely different visual identities

Clients often approach us with a challenging request: to merge two entirely different design systems. This typically happens when a new publication is to be released within an older series, while a stricter visual identity has meanwhile been introduced or further developed. For designers without extensive experience in building systematic visual identities, this can be a complex task. For us, it has become routine. We know how to respect the visual identity manual while also meeting the client’s expectations — and how to create a solution that clearly references the original publication at first glance. The key is to show the client precisely what we propose to adjust, and to explain why. You can see an example of a short presentation in which we clearly outline our approach here.
